For decades, employees have experienced the boring and dreary workspaces of traditional corporate offices. However, times are changing! Recent workspace trends highlight the importance of interior design to drive employee engagement and organizational commitment. The fact is, the better the space and work experience, the more effective the employees and the more successful the company’s results. Take a look at these five conducive office spaces that can transform any task from every-day to engaging.

The folks at Corus Entertainment have capitalized on the notion of work hard, play hard with their spectacular, 500,000 square foot office in Toronto. Characterized by a five story atrium lined with TV studios, lounges and an exhilarating slide, this adult playground brings out the fun side of every employee. The interior design brilliantly reflects the company’s culture of innovation, collaboration and creativity – easily inspiring any individual who walks in the door.

Selgas Cano is an architectural firm that strays from the pack: it’s office takes home in the middle of a forest just outside of Madrid, Spain. The open concept, aerodynamic tube has a long window that extends into the ceiling, allowing natural light to fill the space. This unique office space has sunken floors, providing employees with an eye-level view of the forest ground as well as the open sky, embracing nature and fostering a serene work environment.

The building has 26 different workspaces that are uniquely connected by a labyrinth of stairs and walkways. Edge is Deloitte’s newest corporate headquarters in Amsterdam and has been certified as the ‘smartest,’ most sustainable building in the world. It is completely covered in solar panels and has a hydro system driven by rainwater. One of our favorite features? Data transmitting LED lights with sensors that monitor movement, temperature and light to inform energy management. In such a ‘green’ environment, it’s no wonder employees are proud and feel as though they are at the forefront of change.

5. Google, Tel Aviv

Of course our list wouldn’t be complete without Google! Although each of the company’s international campuses are famous for their playful nature and for enhancing creativity– our favorite location happens to be the Tel Aviv space because it goes above and beyond to reflect ethnic culture. Each of the 8 floors occupying Electra Tower is designed to reflect a different aspect of the local identity, illustrating Israel’s diversity.
